Our Programmes

Life Skills Programme
Our structured life skills programme equips residents with the practical knowledge and confidence to manage independent adult life. Skills covered include:
- Budgeting, money management and understanding finances
- Cooking, nutrition and healthy eating
- Household management, cleaning, laundry, maintaining a home
- Timekeeping, organisation and personal responsibility
- Applying for benefits and understanding entitlements
- Accessing healthcare and managing appointments
- Job applications, CV writing and interview skills
- Attending community activities and building a social network
Skills are developed through a combination of 1:1 sessions, group workshops and hands-on practical experience within the home.

Coaching & Mentoring
Each resident has access to regular 1:1 coaching and mentoring sessions with a trained mentor. These sessions provide:
- A safe, confidential space to talk through challenges and goals
- Practical goal-setting and progress tracking
- Support to build resilience and a positive mindset
- Encouragement, accountability and consistent guidance
- Help navigating difficult decisions and relationships
Our mentors understand the care system and what it means to start adult life without a traditional safety net. They are not just advisors, they are champions.

Young Mothers/Parent Programme
This programme is one of Esther's Haven's most distinctive offerings.
Young mothers leaving care face a unique and complex set of challenges. They are navigating their own transition to independence whilst also carrying the responsibility of raising a child. Without the right support, this can feel overwhelming.
Our Young Mothers Programme is designed to support young mothers to:
- Develop the parenting skills and confidence they need to thrive
- Build a stable, nurturing home environment for themselves and their child
- Develop their own independence alongside their role as a parent
- Access specialist parenting support and community resources
- Understand their rights and navigate the systems around them
- Work towards longer-term goals such as education, employment and housing
Our goal is clear: to keep families together. By empowering young mothers with the right support, skills and belief in themselves, we help them give their children the best possible start while also building the future they deserve for themselves.
